A Passion for Empowering Young Minds
As an experienced elementary teacher and elementary behavior interventionist, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting children with diverse learning abilities and needs, helping them navigate challenges and uncover their strengths. Inspired by the incredible kids I work with every day and my own two children, Desi and TJ, I created the Calm Reflections Books collection to provide children with a fun and meaningful way to explore self-regulation, coping strategies, and emotional understanding.
When I’m not writing, I serve as an elementary behavior interventionist in a local school district, supporting students from kindergarten through 5th grade across four schools. Each story in this collection of books is crafted with love, care, and a deep understanding of what children and families need to thrive.
My Journey
With years of experience in education, I’ve had the privilege of working with students from kindergarten to 6th grade in Missouri and Illinois school districts. My current role as an elementary behavior interventionist takes me to four schools each week, where I support children facing diverse challenges, from severe behaviors to social and emotional growth. This work, along with being a mother, has inspired me to create books that blend my professional and personal expertise with my love of storytelling.
Why I Write
I believe every child deserves the tools to understand their emotions and navigate the world with confidence. My collection of books brings these lessons to life through relatable characters, vibrant illustrations, and practical strategies that parents and educators can use at home or in the classroom.
